Grignolino
Grignolino is a Piedmontese red grape associated with the hills north of Asti. Its relatively pale wine colour should not lead it to be treated as a white grape.
A distinctive pale-skinned description
Rauscedo describes small-to-medium oval berries with thin, waxy skins ranging in intensity of pink colour. The bunches are compact and may be cylindrical or pyramidal. Three-lobed leaves have pronounced teeth, giving the illustration brief more useful detail than wine colour alone.
Hillsides and wine character
The nursery favours well-exposed hills with dry, ventilated conditions and warns about rot in very compact bunches. Its wine description includes pale ruby or pink colour, floral aromas and pepper-like spice. Those are possible expressions rather than a tasting guarantee for every bottle.
