Courbu

A white grape native to the Pyrenean vineyards. Its small berries can provide high-sugar musts with moderate acidity for dry or sweet wine.

Location: France

Origins and the vine

Pl@ntGrape explicitly distinguishes Courbu from a white-berried form of Courbu noir: they are different varieties. Courbu is sensitive to wind and needs training and long pruning. The sheet recommends low-to-moderate-vigour rootstocks.

From grape to wine

Its wine potential includes fine dry and sweet wines. High sugar and moderate acidity are qualitative descriptions, not fixed laboratory values for all sites. Grey rot is the principal particular susceptibility identified by the sheet; a lack of other listed problems should not be interpreted as immunity.
