Petit Manseng
A white grape from the Pyrénées-Atlantiques with very small berries. It can concentrate sugar while retaining very high acidity, supporting aromatic sweet-wine production.
Origins and the vine
Pl@ntGrape identifies a Pyrénées-Atlantiques origin and reports a close genetic relationship with Savagnin without stating a complete pedigree in that wording. The vine is vigorous and needs support and long pruning. Its small bunches and very small berries distinguish its description from a generic large-berried white grape.
From grape to wine
The sheet highlights the combination of sugar concentration and exceptionally high acidity. It also records strong grey-rot resistance. These observations support its sweet-wine potential without implying that sweet wine must always involve noble rot; sugar concentration and rot are separate processes.
