Albana

Albana is a white grape associated with Romagna, particularly its hills. The nursery describes marked variability and identifies the Serra type as one comparatively stable form.

Very long bunches

Rauscedo describes very long cylindrical, winged bunches with moderately loose berries. The berries are rounded, amber-yellow and relatively thin-skinned. Large three-lobed leaves and strong growth complete the general description; a chosen biotype should be stated when preparing a specimen plate.

Different wine styles

The technical account covers dry and sweeter white wines as well as sparkling uses. It describes some body and tannin rather than an automatically light wine. A suggested connection with the Alban Hills is not treated as an established origin, and clone-specific aromas are not generalised to all Albana.
