Gouveio

Gouveio is a Portuguese white grape associated with the Douro and also grown in Alentejo. Rauscedo identifies Gouveio with Godello while distinguishing it from Madeira Verdelho and Verdejo.

Identity and growing conditions

Wines of Portugal describes relatively early ripening, compact medium bunches and small yellow-green berries. Its historical use of the name Verdelho in the Douro has caused confusion with a different Madeira variety.
