Fiano

Fiano is a white grape associated particularly with the Avellino area of Campania. The nursery describes a vigorous vine that benefits from avoiding excessive fertility.

A conspicuous bunch wing

Rauscedo describes medium-small pyramidal bunches with a prominent wing. Elliptical amber-yellow berries have firm, waxy skins and slightly crisp flesh. Leaves are rounded and generally three-lobed.

Wine and growing conditions

The technical account describes fresh, dry white wine with a distinctive aroma. Dry hillside settings and attention to vigour feature in its cultivation account. Its assertion of a Roman-period origin is not used as proof that ancient grape names identified the present cultivar.
