Wine · Grape variety · Short entry
Alvarinho
Alvarinho is a white grape associated with the Minho valley, particularly Monção and Melgaço. The Spanish name Albariño refers to the same variety in the Rauscedo account.
Identity and growing conditions
Wines of Portugal describes a vigorous vine with small bunches and relatively low grape yields. Its regional heartlands lie in northern Vinho Verde, while the nursery records plantings across the border in Galicia.
Wine styles and uses
The promotional profile describes fragrant whites with stone-fruit, citrus and floral impressions. Both young drinking and bottle development are possible; a grape name alone does not establish the age or style of an individual wine.
