Verdejo

Verdejo is a Spanish white grape closely associated with Rueda. It is distinct from both Madeira Verdelho and Gouveio, despite historical confusion among those names.

Identity and growing conditions

Rauscedo describes a medium, rounded five-lobed leaf and a slightly open lyre-shaped petiolar sinus. The cylindrical bunch is relatively loose and small to medium, with rounded yellow-green berries.

Wine styles and uses

The nursery describes fruity wines with herbal impressions, acidity and body, including single-variety and blended examples. Barrel fermentation or maturation is possible; these are cellar choices rather than separate grape identities.
