Passerina

Passerina is a white grape associated with Italy’s Adriatic growing areas. The nursery leaves its precise origin uncertain despite noting bunch resemblance to Trebbiano Toscano.

Resemblance is not identity

Rauscedo describes large, rather squat conical or pyramidal bunches with a wing. Large round berries have thick waxy skins and a visible navel. The five-lobed leaves have pronounced teeth.

A late-ripening crop

The profile describes vigorous growth, relatively late budbreak and late ripening. Its general wine account is dry, substantial and acidic, intended for early drinking or limited ageing. A resemblance in bunch form does not justify treating Passerina as a Trebbiano Toscano synonym.
